Join us March 11th at French Hospital Medical Center Education Pavilion in the Urology classroom on the 1st floor. We will have a potluck dinner at 5:30 and Katie's presentation will be from 6:00-7:30.

Katie Reginato Cascamo is the mother of a very early preterm child born 2 ½ months premature at 2 ½ pounds.  It is her Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience and subsequent challenges caring for a developmentally delayed special needs child that transformed her worldview and inspired her to help others through similar difficulties.

Katie has spent the last eight years using her NICU story to equip maternal-infant health providers with the tools to navigate organizational change.  She’ll share her incredible story of being airlifted through a blizzard, raising a medically fragile, developmentally delayed child and the amazing role engaged healthcare providers played in her ability to become a healthcare leader.  Katie uses her platform with Courageous Steps to improve patient and family outcomes through stories, education and leadership tools.

  1. Katie will share her story of being airlifted in critical condition through a blizzard and the different ways healthcare providers helped her navigate the complexities of raising a very special 9-year-old.

  2. We will do a few fun activities that get us talking about Servant-Leadership.  We’ll engage in learning, heart change and putting our ideas into practice with parents.

  3. Katie will introduce you to several organizations that are modeling Servant-Leadership in maternal-infant health.  She’ll come with a treasure chest of resources and information that will help you support parents on the Central Coast.

Katie is the Founder & CEO of Courageous Steps. Courageous Steps provides leadership education and management consulting to healthcare leaders and their staff who care for children with pediatric special needs. Katie’s mission is to improve patient and family outcomes by focusing her attention on the care and concern of the healthcare provider.  By equipping healthcare providers with the tools to navigate change, Courageous Steps goal is to decrease burnout and staff turnover, therefore improving health outcomes among patients and their families.
